Once again, it happens rarely, but I am going to use this space to talk about a podcast I like. While I get dozens of requests each day to profile an individual podcast, I refuse unless it’s a podcast I am personally willing to listen to.
With that in mind, let me introduce you to the Open Road Podcast.
The lesson to be learned from the guys at Open Road Podcast is this. Nothing beats passion as a starting point for a great show. Nothing!
If you’re a car nut like me, you’ll want to add this one to your podcatcher right away.

At the Podcast & Portable Media Expo, I found Podango. Looking at the various network models out there, I think these folks have the best idea. I spent quite a lot of time with Podango CEO Lee Gibbons and believe he is a sincere guy. One thing that really impressed me about Podango was their “UnConference Within A Conference.”
One prominent podcasting network decided to look for a free ride, holding a competing un-conference in Ontario, CA at a nearby hotel. Podango decided to respect the hard work done by Tim and Emile Bourquin and bought two booths on the show floor, and featured speakers and teaching sessions that complimented the Expo.
I recorded an interview with Lee. Rather than having me parse it into a blog post, I’ll let you hear it for yourself.
