Open Road Podcast - PodcastingTricks.com

page8_1.jpg

Once again, it happens rarely, but I am going to use this space to talk about a podcast I like. While I get dozens of requests each day to profile an individual podcast, I refuse  unless it’s a podcast I am personally willing to listen to.

With that in mind, let me introduce you to the Open Road Podcast.

The lesson to be learned from the guys at Open Road Podcast is this. Nothing beats passion as a starting point for a great show. Nothing!

If you’re a car nut like me, you’ll want to add this one to your podcatcher right away.

Do podcasters need to know how to write? Not always. You can hire a writer. Or you may produce a podcast that simply doesn’t call for any writing. But more often than not, you’ll need to eventually write something related to your podcast. Just like everything else, there’s good and bad writing. This post is designed to keep you on the good side of that equation.

Whether you’re writing a full script, commercial, promo, intro or outro, you need to have a good flow to your writing. Clarity, simple themes, and a vocabulary that your listeners will understand are all important.

If you look at the top 100 podcasts on iTunes today, you’ll note that the vast majority of successful shows, offer the listener more than one voice to listen to. Beyond reducing the burdens placed on carrying a show all by yourself, it provides much needed ear relief for your audience.

Can You Spare A Link? - PodcastingTricks.com

link.jpg

Are you a regular PodcastingTricks.com reader? Do you find the information here to be valuable? If so, could you spare a link?

I note with some concern, that there are very few podcast-related blogs that score well with services such as Technorati. Since one of the missions here at PodcastingTricks.com is to spread the word about podcasting, finding as many eyeballs as possible is a goal worth pursuing.

I’ve been trying to determine the best way to get links, and decided the best way was to simply ask.

I’ve been blogging here every day (except Christmas) for nearly a year now. I’ve received kind encouragement from many of you via e-mail. Now, I’d like a little link love. If you can spare it, please link to www.podcastingtricks.com.

Thanks.

Remembering NetRadio - PodcastingTricks.com

Do you want to relive the birth of Internet Radio? Back in the day (about 12 years ago to be exact) I started a company called NetRadio. We were hoping for a podcast-like experience, but we were just a bit early. People were actually listening to streaming audio on 600-baud modems. This is the first of what would become many news stories about our company. It’s a real hoot to look back at this - enjoy.
