How Podcasting Works
Producing a podcast can be as simple as installing recording software on your computer, plugging a microphone into a computer, recording your voice and uploading it through one of many podcast directories. Companies, including Disney, Volvo, and BusinessWeek, are leading the corporate world with high-quality professionally produced shows.
Producers post shows via a syndicator. The listener’s podcatching software, such as iTunes or iPodder, is set to check for new shows and download them to the listener’s playlist as new shows are posted.
When users dock their portable players or go online to view their playlist, the latest episode automatically appears. Users can then listen to them on a personal media player or computer. Some listeners copy podcasts to a CD and play them on their home or car stereo.
